We value confidence highly. Moving through uncertainty with determination is something we expect from every great leader. A strong hand that holds the reigns and that keeps us in-line to achieve the goal.
But we must not confuse this with certainty, nor with being naïve and failing to recognize the difficulties or the obstacles. If there is a lesson to be learned from the past two years, is that we live in an uncertain world, and anything can happen. “The future is uncertain” as a friend likes to remind himself.
What we must strive to is, knowing all the risks, to recognize that we just don’t know what is going to happen, and yet move ahead with conviction. Doing otherwise would just be a delusion.
Voltaire said it best once:
