If you are here, thanks for sticking with me. This week was all about setting the ground for what is about to come, and if it felt way too meta, way too much about myself, is because it was intended that way. If you found that boring, or irrelevant, I apologize for how it made you feel. (Notice how I worded that in the best non-apologetic fashion: I am not apologizing for what I just did, just about how it made you feel, for which I am empathic, I feel you. Truly!)
As promised, a theme for each day of the week. I saved the big one for Friday: Leadership.
I considered this as my fifth topic because I am a believer in the power of leadership.
Nothing happens without the will. And will, when there is more than one individual involved, is what we call leadership. Leadership is will channelled into a collective.
To state the obvious, at the greatest moments in history, there has always been a leader. We are familiar with those exemplary moments: “I have a dream”, “don’t ask what your country can do for you….”, “make a dent in the Universe”, etc. but leadership is also in the mundane, in every situation of life.
Leader is who decides to give the right of way at the 4-way stop, is who picks up the piece of rubbish on the sidewalk, is who starts the wave at the game. They did not have to do it, but something inside them said “it may just be me who does it”.
Every week, on Friday, I’ll try to write a post about something inspiring, maybe humbling. If I inspire you to take action, to lead, I will call that success. And that’s the way I assume leadership today.
P.S. That completes our first week! The “PPILL” stands for Purpose, Process, Innovation/Incentive, Leverage, and Leadership. These five things are, in my opinion, the “speeds and feeds” of people and organizations. Maybe “love makes the world go round”, but love engenders purpose and makes us lead. Process and leverage make us better than the next one, and innovation is yet another way to stand out.
This is where the real fun begins. Here’s for a great weekend and a brand new week, next week.
