Finding one’s purpose is easy for some. They know already who they want to be, and what they want to do.
It hasn’t always been so easy for me.
I am a fast learner, because of that, I tend to do reasonably well in many things, and since I like variety, change is always exciting to me.
Because of this, coming up with a list of things that I would like to do, hasn’t come that easy to me, but I learned a little trick that I have used over time. Here it is:
I sit down and I start to write out the things that I definitely wouldn’t want to do. A “not to ever do” list. First in a generic fashion, then in more detail. Sort of in a tree structure. This helps bring clarity and focuses the mind. It also helps at a later time to justify when it is time to walk away from some opportunities.
Sometimes, to judge the light, it helps to look at the shadows.
