They are a pro. But what kind of pro? It is not about charging for what you do.
There is the PROficient pro. The one that at a technical level is capable of delivering quality work. The pro that has the skills. The pro that has gone through the training, and has put in the hours.
The proficient pro has all the right to charge the market rate.
Then, there is the PROfessional PRO. The one that checks all the boxes above, but who’s also the one that can get going and do their best work when they don’t feel like it. They are the ones that you can rely on. The ones that you know that when the going gets though, they will carry their part of the weight and make the team succeed. No inspiration needed.
Most of us are happy to pay the market rate, and more for the professional pro.
